The Ian Mosey farming enterprise, BI & BM Mosey is based in Gilling East, in the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in North Yorkshire.
Livestock
The family run a flock of North of England Mule ewes and a herd of Charolais suckler cows, with all progeny finished on farm. BI & BM Mosey recently introduced a flock of 40 Texel sheep for the purpose of producing shearling tups and gimmers for breeding. Our ‘Backdale Texels’ have already won several show accolades including champion male and champion female Texel. Pigs are also finished on the farm for the Ian Mosey bed & breakfast pig finishing business.
Protecting the environment is important to us and we strive to rear animals to the highest possible standards for all of our customers.
Arable Farming
Ian Mosey’s arable enterprise covers c.1,500 acres of land. The farm grows a wide variety of crops including cereals, sugar beet, fodder beet and potatoes. All cereals produced on the farm travel a short distance to the feed mill and are used in the manufacture of animal feed. In an area of outstanding natural beauty we are trusted custodians of this landscape. Innovative and productive farming practices are blended with our duty to ensure the land is farmed in a way which protects it for future generations to come.
