General Farm Worker (Summer)

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and practical General Farm Worker to join Ian Mosey (Livestock) Ltd for a summer placement. This is a varied, hands-on role based near Hovingham, working across the livestock operation and our on-site workshop.


This opportunity is ideal for a recent college leaver, apprentice graduate, or anyone looking to build a career in agriculture. Full training will be provided to help you build your skills and confidence.


This role has the potential to lead to a permanent position at the end of the placement, with opportunities for long-term progression within the business.


What You’ll Be Doing


As part of our team, you will gain experience across multiple areas of the business, including:


Assisting with fabrication, maintenance, and repair of livestock equipment in our workshop

On the pig rearing operation based in and around our site, you will assist with feeding, bedding and general care of pigs ensuring welfare standards are maintained to the highest level.


You will support our team of livestock hauliers and field staff with sorting, loading and unloading pigs on farms.


What We’re Looking For


We’re seeking someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and willing to learn. You should have:


  • A genuine interest in animal welfare and agriculture
  • A positive, hands-on attitude and strong work ethic
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and a friendly approach
  • The ability to follow instructions and procedures carefully
  • A good level of physical fitness, as the role is physically demanding


Desirable (but not essential):


  • Previous experience working with livestock


Requirements


  • Full UK driving licence


Contract & Hours


  • Full-time, temporary contract (3-months)
  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Overtime opportunities available
  • Weekend availability
